The resort covers many small islands surrounded by a mangrove jungle at the heart of the ecological enclave of Mayakobá. Using indigenous materials such as Yucatán limestone and renewable woods, the design emphasizes chic simplicity. The spa, on a private island, surrounds a cenote, or natural limestone pool, fed by subterranean springs and the beach offers Caribbean blue water and borders the second largest coral reef in the world. Guests have access to all features of the Mayakobá property, including the championship 18-hole Greg Norman golf course and lectures on ancient Mayan culture and the Yucatán ecosystem.
Rosewood residences
There will be 32 three-bedroom villas tucked into private coves with their own swimming pools and whirlpools. Each of the villas will be 4,500 square feet, with an additional 5,000 square feet of outdoor living space. An optional rental program is planned. Like the resort’s guest rooms, the villas will be accessible via private docks, with thatch-roofed teak gondolas shuttling residents and guests around the area. The spa will occupy its own island and will have eight suites available to residents and guests. Other amenities will include a fitness center, restaurants and the beach club.
